Futurecop! and YUSA release twinkling romance ‘I’m Missing You’

Futurecop! and YUSA collaborate on ‘I’m Missing You’, a single that projects like a wistful daydream, a beautiful synthesiser and keys arrangement that drifts with melancholic elegance.

It begins with lo-fi style drums of filtered claps and a pretty piano line. More energy is energetic with faster more notes filling the atmosphere, warm, summery melodies that have a colourful touch. Playing into the title and theme, the track has a soft, rose-tinted feel to it, a sweet blend of indie-pop and synthwave. The vocals, provided by YUSA, are wonderfully delicate against the shimmering backdrop, a natural chemistry between producer and singer.

Speaking on how it aligns with his recent album, Futurecop! explains, “I’m Missing You is really where the whole Wind, Town & Flowers project began. One evening I watched a Japanese TV show on Netflix called Beach Boys, and I completely fell in love with it. It sent me down a rabbit hole of binge-watching similar shows, from Takuya Kimura dramas to Orange Days. That world of innocent, wholesome, inspirational and emotional storytelling became the spark for this track. To make the track feel authentic, I searched for the right voice and discovered a Japanese singer called YUSA. As soon as I heard her, I knew she was perfect.”

The accompanying video was directed by Anise Mariko Lew with cinematography from Yumiko Kobayashi, set against a beautiful Japanese backdrop and giving us those sentimental moments of romance amongst the angst of looking back.

Manchester-born producer Manzur Iqbal is Futurecop!, someone who has bought a rich, introspective and escapist sound. He blends dream-pop, indie and electronic influences. YUSA adds to the project as a designer, art maker, music composer, vocal trainer and lecturer, a multi-disciplinary edge.
