Five-piece Cable Boy have shared their debut album Forever, an anticipated record that empowers their self-described ‘goth disco’ sound, and gives it thirteen tracks to embody.

Audiences are treated to the Dublin band drifting through shoegaze atmospheres with dreampop intonation, a hazy sonic palette that feels nostalgic, innately honest and shimmering. Across the full-length, the band span their versatility, with both rowdy alternative hits and gentler, softer, bedroom pop moments. Amongst the effects of heavy guitars, lush vocal delivery and driving rhythm section, arrives the sparkle of synthesisers. Overall, it’s a lush and colourful debut, with plenty of contemporary flair, but an alluring helping of musical familiarity to boot.

Frontman Semilore Olusa explains, “The intention behind calling the album ‘Forever’ was to create something from the soul that feels like it’ll stand the test of time. We wanted to make something that sounded like a Time Capsule filled with all inspiration, like events and feelings we experienced so far in our time as a band. I think we succeeded in making something for ourselves as well as other people in our community’”

Cable Boy’s story begins with school friends, but follows a narrative of more ambitious and evolving soundscapes as they found their creative feet. They’ve appeared at iconic venues and festivals across Ireland, and received airplay from radio and national media coverage. Rising stars, no doubt.
