Scuzz-pop outfit The Love Buzz have unveiled ‘Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)’, a teaser toward their forthcoming album release Earworms for later in the year.

The track opens with a loose guitar line, shortly joined by tight but steady drums, simple bass notes and key stabs. As the nonchalant vocals wander through the verses, moments are suddenly filled with noisier, fuzzy synths and more riotous instrumentation. Flashes of influence from across the eras manifest in something that revives a noughties garage rock with a contemporary indie lair. It’s excitable, full of momentum and bursts into life with an infectious urgency.

The band explains, “We put together this song off the back of a random riff, Kieran played it in a search for a new song, it came together within 30 minutes, keeping all the first lyrics, frills and low vocals. It was recorded with a broken Fuzz War pedal and a micro Korg with only black keys. The lyrics are about living on the dole and weekends that go on for months.”

Following UK tours with NewDad and The Darkness, hitting stages in Europe and India and lots of festival appearances. They’ve also had lots of tastemaker support. Impressively, they’ve also picked up a sponsorship from Epiphone. Whether you’re a fan in the UK or abroad, there are lots of ways to witness The Love Buzz live, creating undoubtedly feverish anticipation around the new album.
