Vazon unleash controlled chaos on ferocious new single ‘Hammerhead’

Leeds heavy alternative duo Vazon return at full force with “Hammerhead,” a furious new release that pushes their bass-and-drums setup to punishing new extremes.

Released via Kycker, the track strips heavy music back to its rawest components while still sounding absolutely massive. Distorted basslines crash against pounding drums and unfiltered vocals, creating a dense wall of groove-heavy aggression that feels equal parts rock, metal and punk without settling comfortably into any one category.

Built around sheer intensity and momentum, “Hammerhead” captures the band’s increasingly confident identity. The duo describe the track as a defining statement for the Vazon sound, and it certainly feels that way; sharp, confrontational and driven by the kind of restless energy that thrives in a live setting.

Despite the minimal instrumentation, the single never feels empty. Instead, Vazon use space and repetition to amplify tension, delivering a sound that lands with precision while still feeling chaotic and visceral. Influences from acts like Rage Against the Machine, Royal Blood and Deftones can be felt in flashes, though the duo’s approach remains distinctly their own.

Since forming in Leeds, Vazon have built a growing reputation through relentless touring and explosive performances, already clocking over 50 shows across the UK. “Hammerhead” marks the first glimpse into their forthcoming EP and suggests a band doubling down on the heaviness, unpredictability and groove that have quickly made them one of the more exciting rising names in the UK alternative scene.
