Michael Paul Binz has unveiled a brand-new single, blending a riotous attitude in his sound with a reflective, deep affection for his themes. ‘Cause You Are’ leans into not only Michael’s grunge inspirations, but anthemic alternative rock and a punk edge too. Fresh off the back of the alt-country cut ‘Plenty’, the Indiana artist shows off his broad genre talents.
Pounding drums and unleashed guitars start us off. Next, the rhythm section gets to chugging, joined by a lighter set of strummed chords, letting the vocals forge an energetic and forceful path. Though it ebbs and flows between verse and chorus, the intensity never lets up for long, leaving ample opportunity for a flying guitar solo to counter the vocals and pull it back from its softer moments into ferocity.
On the contrasting themes to this punchy sound, Michael shares, “The song is about the ever-growing relationship with someone, whether it be from the artist to anyone listening, but specifically his love for the cause, which is what makes him be as an artist and person. The cause and cause being a word used as a play of words because they are why I do what I do.”
Since first swapping wind instruments for electric guitars, Michael has had a penchant for the alternative. In his tracks, he pulls from lived experience, putting indie rock, folk and alternative influences into the melting pot.
