al coffey releases ‘nice meeting you, again’

With soothing vocals, and gentle piano lines, ‘nice meeting you, again’ is a glorious ballad showcasing fast-rising artist al coffey’s best work. The London-based artist, alongside producer GETH, uses this single to tell a tale of mental health decline and his relationship with his grandfather. Having completed a songwriting master’s at Tileyard Education back in 2021, al has since gone from strength to strength, most notably with BBC support and high-profile syncs with DAZN and ITV.

Talking about the single and the inspiration from his relationship with his grandad, Al explains:

I still go and sit with him and listen to the same stories over and over, about his childhood dog, working on the Tyneside docks, falling in love. When I was younger, he used to tell me the same stories, but he knew who I was then. Now he often says ‘nice meeting you’ when I leave. The song became my response to that. Although you forgot my name, it was nice meeting you, again.”

Part of the LGBTQ+ community, al uses his voice to shape modern pop, and is a regular performer at London’s Queen Edge, with streams and TikTok followers growing nicely, in the hundreds of thousands and thousands, respectively.
