Bonneville release ‘On the One’ from upcoming third studio album

Legendary drummer Bernard Purdie joins southern retro rockers Bonneville to craft the glorious anthem ‘On the One’. With triumphant brass lines, grooving bass licks, and soulful vocal lines, Bonneville continues to bring retro writing styles into the modern age.

Best explained by singer-writer Wes McGee,

“I think the oncoming birth of my baby was a feeling of taking a breath and starting anew,” McGee says. “A new beginning and starting on the one when he arrives. I was hoping to have a Sly & the Family Stone party vibe. I wanted that ‘we are all together in this thang’ vibe that they exude. Pointed but fun.”

As well as Bernard Purdie’s input, the band’s continued collaboration with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Starita, the end result is clear for all to hear.

“I was most excited to pair Bernard Purdie with the Muscle Shoals session players. You can’t get better players in the room together, so it was destined to be an epic recording session,” Starita says. “The approach for this song was very easy because all I had to do was let Bernard and the session players start to gel. You bring in players of this caliber to capture their talent rather than try to produce them into something else. It’s actually quite simple.”
