Sparkling indie riffage fills 30 seconds of this 3-and-a-half-minute guitar-rock salvo, later joined by commanding vocals and driving rhythms. This, of course, is Montello, who’ve built a reputation for channeling indie bands from the noughties whilst staying in a lane of their own.
Speaking about the track, the band explain: “The Universe Replied… is a song that asks more questions than it gives answers – it’s very difficult as a young adult to feel like you have a clear cut career and a laid out life ahead of you, so it’s talking about my way of throwing caution to the wind and not knowing what the universe has planned for you, me or anyone.“
Having played Truck Festival, Isle of Wight, as well as Manchester’s Deaf Institute on the way, and having conquered O2 Ritz and Gorilla, the bands are making waves with fans and industry alike. This is the second single of 2026, and that duo follows the band’s self-titled EP release the previous year. We can’t wait to see what the rest of this year holds for the Wigan-based foursome.
