Efro’s Lipstick Stains is a summery single for fleeting romances

Endless, idealistic, and at its core, a summer anthem, Lipstick Stains is the newest outing from Athens-hailing artist Efro, who now resides in Berlin, via Brighton. Fuzzy bass meet sun-drenched production, in this laid back, easy, offering. This ease isn’t overly polished, and it still boasts hearty doses of distortion, fun, and charming spoken vocals.

Speaking about the single, Efro explains:

Lipstick Stains began as a visualisation of a perfect endless idealistic summer. I first started writing the lyrics by having in mind the things that make summer what it is, long days at the beach, listening to the waves crashing, summer love. Then I came up with the bassline keeping the song moving no matter what and later came the bridge with the song reaching its climax there, kind of portraying those more spontaneous summer moments we all know and love. It’s a love song about summer.

Efro’s continued development comes off the back of her debut EP, Year of Yearning, earning support from Rough Trade, Rolling Stone, and NTS radio – with shows in the UK and Europe to boot. She’s distinctive and nostalgic, but not backward-looking, and Lipstick Stains continues a long journey, marking another songwriting milestone.
