musicianship and a clear respect for R&B’s past, but ‘LOVESHY’ feels like the project where
those qualities come together most convincingly. Across twelve tracks, the Maryland-born
singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist leans fully into romance, vulnerability and
the nervous optimism of falling for someone new. Throughout this new offering, Eli writes from the point where attraction still feels exciting enough to be frightening. Desire, uncertainty, and hope sit close together, creating a record that shows modern romance can be messy without becoming cynical.
Musically, ‘LOVESHY’ is just as assured. He moves between polished contemporary R&B, pop,
funk and guitar-led soul while keeping his vocals at the centre. His ability as a live musician helps give the project a warmth that separates it from more clinical production, with guitar often
providing an extra layer of movement and personality beneath the smoother arrangements.‘Pretty Girl Dangerous’, featuring Bri3, is a strong example of that balance, pairing dreamy
production with an easy sense of infatuation. ‘Fine As U’ pushes harder into rhythm and guitar,
while focus track ‘Fumble’ continues the EP’s fascination with what happens when confidence
