Music Crowns is proud to spotlight the release of Sesh Fiend Confession Tape, the debut album from UK/New Zealand hip-hop artist Tru:FRAZ.
Arriving as a 16-track collection of stories, confessions, chaos and self-reflection, Sesh Fiend Confession Tape documents one of the most turbulent chapters of Tru:FRAZ’s life and transforms those experiences into a deeply personal body of work.
Rooted in UK underground hip-hop but refusing to remain within any particular box, Tru:FRAZ combines storytelling, dark humour and brutally honest lyricism across an album that explores partying, addiction, relationships, grief, self-destruction, mental battles and the search for balance.
Rather than presenting these experiences as a polished retrospective, Sesh Fiend Confession Tape feels like an open collection of confessions. The album captures the highs, lows, ridiculous moments and darker realities of a period that ultimately shaped Tru:FRAZ both personally and creatively.
At the centre of the project is Tru:FRAZ’s relationship with three different versions of himself. Fraser is the human underneath it all. Fraz is the artist who takes the madness apart and turns it into music. Then there is Frazzle, who is often the culprit responsible for creating the situations that eventually become the material.
That dynamic allows the album to shift naturally between serious introspection and absurd humour, without losing the sense of honesty that runs throughout the project.
Tru:FRAZ was born and raised in England before moving to New Zealand, describing himself simply as an “English Kiwi”. His musical identity reflects that journey, bringing together the influence of the UK underground with experiences gathered during his years in Aotearoa.
His early influences ranged from Oasis and alternative rock to Eminem, Biggie and Wu-Tang, before discovering the UK underground hip-hop scene through artists and groups including The Four Owls, Task Force, Split Prophets and Contact Play.
That background provides an important foundation for an album that places storytelling at its centre. Across Sesh Fiend Confession Tape, Tru:FRAZ turns personal experiences into songs while allowing different characters, perspectives and emotions to emerge along the way.
The album’s tracklist includes “Confessions”, “Where U Been?”, “27 Club”, “Benzodiazefraz”, “3AM”, “Devils Advocate”, “Window Sill”, “Painting Pictures”, “Flowers”, “Bluff”, “Self Medicate”, “Letter To My Soul”, “Stress”, “Down”, “Fraser’s Eulogy” and “MAD”.
“MAD” serves as the project’s current focus track and has been supported by a full music video alongside a substantial collection of fresh footage and visuals.
Elsewhere, “Where U Been?” holds a special place in Tru:FRAZ’s journey as his first official single and his first experience properly editing a music video. The accompanying footage brought together Queenstown, New Zealand, beneath the M40 near Uxbridge and the cliffs of Portugal.
“Letter To My Soul” represents one of the album’s most personal moments, with Tru:FRAZ describing the final verse as a section that genuinely gave him “goosebumps” while writing it. His own personal favourite on the album is “Stress”.
The project’s emotional foundations extend beyond the immediate experiences documented across the tracklist. Tru:FRAZ’s move to New Zealand was partly driven by a desire for self-discovery and to learn more about his father’s roots. His father died in a motorbike accident when Tru:FRAZ was seven.
The album is also dedicated to Chloe, known to friends as Sploosh, whose influence played an important role in Tru:FRAZ beginning his music journey.
“She left a spark in me. This album was something I needed to make for myself, but I dedicate it to her. See you on the other side.”
The search for balance is one of the recurring ideas running through Tru:FRAZ’s story. His phrase “detox to retox” captures the contradiction at the heart of the Sesh Fiend era, reflecting the constant movement between trying to regain control and falling back into chaos.
Alongside that is another idea that speaks to the album’s wider themes:
“Everybody’s hiding something. I think we’re all just looking for someone we can show it to.”
Together, those ideas provide a window into what Sesh Fiend Confession Tape represents. It is an album about the things people hide, the experiences that shape them and the process of turning difficult periods into something creative.
The project was written by Tru:FRAZ, with mixing and mastering handled by DUX. Production comes from MANUEL, Lethal Needle, DUX, 3AM, Balance Cooper, Daga and Hidden Stash.
For Tru:FRAZ, simply completing the album represents an important achievement.
“The biggest achievement for me personally has been getting this album finished and turning what was a pretty mad period of my life into an actual body of work that I’m proud of. Five years deep, but somehow I feel like I’m only just getting started.”
That final sentiment is important. Despite the album’s focus on the past, Tru:FRAZ sees Sesh Fiend Confession Tape as a beginning rather than a conclusion.
Following his move back to the UK from New Zealand at the end of 2025, he has been rebuilding his foundations in the UK, establishing a new home and setting up the Couch Records HQ again. He is also preparing to study Music Production & Sound Engineering at Point Blank Music School.
Further projects are already taking shape, including an EP with his brother NO M!ND, which is expected to explore a more experimental and gritty sound. Tru:FRAZ also has plans with Naphtali to form a rap duo and develop a collaborative project built around alter egos and character-driven storytelling.
Beyond his own music, he is looking to reconnect with event promotion after previously helping run Dubs In The Dungeon with his Deep Web crew in Queenstown. The events brought together hip-hop, drum and bass, jungle and 140 music alongside local New Zealand talent.
There is also plenty more unreleased material waiting in the archive.
For now, Sesh Fiend Confession Tape stands as the first major document of Tru:FRAZ’s current musical journey. It takes the chaos, contradictions, memories and difficult experiences of a particular period and turns them into a 16-track confession.
Music Crowns is proud to spotlight the release of Sesh Fiend Confession Tape, a debut built on honesty, storytelling, dark humour and self-reflection.
This is not the end of the story.
This is Chapter 1.
