Ruby & Sasha navigate the uncertainty of early Adulthood on Debut EP ‘Outdoor Shower’

Brooklyn based twin duo Ruby & Sasha turn the uncertainty of growing up into something warm, intimate and occasionally funny on their debut EP, Outdoor Shower. Released September 15, 2026, the four track project brings together previous singles “Outdoor Shower,” “Hay Fever” and “Red Light” alongside the previously unheard “Off Switch.”

Much of Outdoor Shower exists in that uncomfortable period where adulthood has technically arrived, but certainty has not. Romantic disappointment, isolation and self doubt appear throughout the record, as does the persistent feeling that everyone else seems to be moving forward while you are still trying to work out what comes next.

Ruby & Sasha approach those experiences without making them heavier than they need to be. There is vulnerability in the writing, but also humour and an awareness of the absurdity that can accompany difficult moments. Their perspective gives the EP the feeling of two people documenting this stage of their lives while they are still very much living through it.

That closeness is reinforced by the sisters’ vocal harmonies. Their voices naturally sit alongside one another, giving the songs a conversational quality that suits writing built around personal observations rather than grand statements.

Musically, Outdoor Shower moves between indie singer songwriter and country folk influences. Acoustic instrumentation forms much of the foundation, while pedal steel, violin, cello, harmonica and Wurlitzer broaden the arrangements. Fuller rhythm sections appear without taking attention away from the pair’s voices or the stories at the centre of the songs.

Producer Daniel Markus keeps those details carefully balanced. Rather than using the wider instrumentation to turn the songs into something overly polished, the production leaves space around Ruby & Sasha’s vocals and allows smaller musical details to emerge naturally.

Across its four tracks, the EP feels less interested in resolving the problems it introduces than documenting what it feels like to sit with them. Ruby & Sasha do not arrive at adulthood with a set of answers. They write about confusion, relationships and uncertainty as unfinished experiences, finding brief moments of clarity before another question inevitably appears.

That makes Outdoor Shower a fitting introduction to the duo. It captures a particular point in their lives without trying to make it universal, yet much of what they describe will be immediately familiar to anyone who has found themselves wondering whether everyone else received instructions for adulthood that somehow passed them by.

With their debut EP, Ruby & Sasha establish a sound built around close harmonies, detailed acoustic arrangements and songwriting that finds personality in the messier parts of growing up.
