‘Outta My League’, with its colourful and witty music video, will be released on 21st April 2023 and is the perfect feel-good track for spring. Dubbed “A Pop Powerhouse” by Purple Melon and “A Rising Pop Star” by Earmilk, Andrew Ash is emerging from the queer-pop scene of Portland, Oregon with his latest track that will put the spring in your step for romance this April.
The Italo Disco, 80s-inspired Pop track, equipped with catchy melodic hooks and a massive guitar solo, showers any listener with the confidence to approach that new romantic interest in their life.
The origins of ‘Outta My League’ began in 2005, when Andrew was dating someone he felt was out of his league, and was journaling and writing lyrics about his feelings and experiences. “In 2019 I rediscovered that journal, and all the beautiful feelings of falling in love for the first time came rushing back to me. Those feelings inspired me to create a song that would transport listeners back in time to experience the magic of young love.”
The key message of ‘Outta My League’ is to help listeners believe in themselves, to go after love and to have fun doing so! As a proud, openly gay man, who has struggled with dyslexia throughout his life, Andrew’s relationship with music offers a point for authentic expression and connection with others through his lived experience. That tenacity, playfulness and love for authenticity have connected with audiences, propelling Andrew into a rising pop sensation.
Andrew’s ability to recreate instrumental soundscapes reminiscent of his 80’s inspirations such as Phil Collins, combined with his knack for writing heartwarming, catchy melodies for contemporary pop music with vintage feels has helped him achieve many accolades, from some of his songs being featured on MTV’s ‘The Hills’ and ‘The Jersey Shore’ to his recent performance on the main stage of Portland PDX Pride.
Andrew’s latest single, ‘I Think I’m Ready for Love,’ released in 2022, received critical acclaim. Earmilk dubbed it a “powerhouse single,” while Lost In The Nordics described it as “a gem from the inside out.” ‘I Think I’m Ready for Love’ was Andrew’s first release in over a decade, following a long hiatus from the music industry. The track was a triumphant return, it won the Pop Smash Radio Award for Best Male Pop Song, and received significant FM radio success throughout Latino and Western audiences. It garnered praise from numerous publications and is currently being featured in the latest marketing campaign by the global fitness brand Barre3.
