Lady Liberty is the stripped-back, beautifully crafted single from Dave Clark, coming off the back of Through The Wall, released earlier this year. Produced by Glenn Kerrigan, the single is carefully crafted, with Dave Clark’s vocal performance raw, charming, and emotive. Discussing the single and its roots, Dave explains:
“Unfortunately, going through a major illness is part of life and something that many of us endure. I had my own episode some time ago and it seemed to me that the individual human experience has a parallel in society. Writing this song I wanted to not just relay my own story but contrast that against what I see as a wider disease around us all.”
Dave Clark’s songwriting is more traditional than contemporary, but is not backward-looking – and still finds a home in modern settings. Storytelling is a dying art, and Dave is reigniting it, akin to Nick Drake, The Verve, and Justin Vernon.
