IRIEspect continues its rise as one of the most exciting new voices in modern reggae fusion with Lost In Time, a vibrant and adventurous EP that captures everything the Long Island seven piece does best: infectious grooves, genre defying creativity, and an unmistakable live band spark. Following a huge year of performances across the Northeast and bills alongside Collie Buddz, The Original Wailers and Steel Pulse, the band enters 2025 with a cohesive yet wildly diverse project that feels both polished and full of personality.
Across five tracks, Lost In Time showcases IRIEspect’s evolving musicianship while staying rooted in their signature blend of reggae, dub, rock, hip hop, Latin influences and dancehall energy.
The EP kicks off with “Want Me Too” (feat. Ras Ajai), a breezy, feel good single built on sunlit melodies and steel pan touches. Ras Ajai, known for his work with Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock Records, adds charisma and warmth, turning the song into the EP’s most instantly uplifting moment.
“Nuh Leave Mi Alone” (feat. Skygrass) turns up the heat with a hard hitting dancehall pulse. Skygrass brings commanding vocals and undeniable presence, delivering a club ready anthem that hits with weight and swagger.
On “Lost,” the band leans deeper into roots reggae, showcasing some of the EP’s strongest songwriting. The horn arrangements are rich and dynamic, the rhythms are tight, and the emotional tone reveals a more introspective side of IRIEspect, proof of how far they have come as composers and arrangers.
The biggest stylistic swing arrives with “Me Gustas Tu,” a bold reimagining of the Manu Chao classic. IRIEspect balances respect for the original with their own bilingual reggae hip hop fusion, weaving melodica, Latin grooves and modern production into one of the project’s most versatile and internationally accessible tracks.
Closing with a punch, “Dangerous” (feat. Duvbear) injects punk flavored grit into the reggae rock framework. Featuring Duvbear, also known as Shalom Miller, son of Matisyahu, the track explodes with raw energy, distorted edges and a rebellious spirit that rounds out the EP with force.
Lost In Time is not just a showcase of IRIEspect’s influences, it is a statement of identity. The band successfully blends the global language of reggae with the eclectic DNA of Long Island’s underground scene, creating a sound that feels refreshing, fearless and built for the stage.
Fans of Sublime, Stick Figure, Rebelution, Elovaters, Manu Chao, Dirty Heads, Iration and Tropidelic will find plenty to love here, but IRIEspect’s rising momentum suggests they are carving out a lane entirely their own.
Lost In Time confirms what the band’s live audience already knows: IRIEspect is a force, and this EP marks a major step in their evolution. Listen HERE!
