For Amana Melome’, recalibration is not about starting again. It is about recognising who you have become.
The Marbella-based multidisciplinary artist returns with RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES, a new collection that transforms the music from her RECALIBRATION era into something more expansive, rhythmic and celebratory.
Released on 25 September, the project brings together a diverse group of producers and musicians, with the original material moving into new territory across Dub Reggae, Funk/Disco, Jazz-House and Soulful/Deep House. Rather than following one fixed sonic direction, Melome’ allows each remix to reveal another side of her musical identity.
One of the album’s key moments is “SO DONE”, remixed by Cee Elassaad and Joel Holmes. The track captures the feeling of leaving behind old limitations and stepping into a stronger, more confident version of yourself. It is an appropriately energetic introduction to an album built around personal freedom.
But the project’s most intriguing story comes from its connection to Melome’s beginnings.
“Space Age Mama Jama RECALIBRATED” revisits the first song she ever recorded, originally released on her debut album Indigo Red! more than ten years ago. The new version brings the song into the present, reflecting an artist who now sees herself differently.
What was once an imagined character — fierce, playful, loud and unapologetic — has become something Melome’ feels she can embody herself.
That makes the track more than a remake. It is a conversation between two points in an artist’s life.
The full-circle element goes even further, with Saverio ‘Sage’ Principini, the producer behind the original recording, returning for the new version. Acclaimed pianist Deron Johnson also contributes to the arrangement, adding another dimension to the track.
Across RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES, Melome’ explores what it means to embrace every part of the journey rather than leaving previous versions of yourself behind.
Her music has always reflected a wide range of influences, drawing on soul, jazz, folk and world music while her wider creative practice extends into painting, writing, ceramics and dance. That multidisciplinary approach gives the project a strong sense of personality — music that feels connected to an entire creative world rather than existing in isolation.
Ultimately, RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES is about celebration.
The searching has happened. The transformation has happened.
Now, Amana Melome’ is ready to move forward — louder, freer and completely herself.
