Seoul-based DJ and producer CONCERTA arrives with striking clarity and intent on her debut EP, Consumption, a meticulously crafted project that feels as much like a world-building exercise as a musical statement. Known for her background leading the merchandise and brand strategy for Hyundai Motor Company’s high-performance N brand, CONCERTA brings a rare level of conceptual discipline to her art, merging sound, visual identity, and narrative into a single, immersive experience.
True to her name, inspired by ADHD medication, CONCERTA’s music is designed to demand attention. Consumption unfolds as a retrofuturistic soundscape shaped by techno, ’90s trance nostalgia, and cinematic atmosphere, offering moments of intensity and reflection for listeners navigating fast-paced, overstimulated lives. There’s a clear sense of intention behind every choice, from the EP’s sleek sonic palette to its visual and conceptual cohesion.
The four-track project, “Apollo,” “Blade Runner,” “Consumption,” and “D 3rd Eye”, is arranged alphabetically, a subtle Easter egg hinting at CONCERTA’s long-term ambition to build an A-to-Z catalogue across her career. Each track functions as a chapter in a broader emotional arc, balancing propulsion and introspection while drawing from the producer’s lifelong love of 1990s film soundtracks and global city life. The result is music that feels futuristic yet familiar, polished yet deeply personal.
Consumption also marks the launch of SYLQ Records, CONCERTA’s independent label and creative platform. More than a label, SYLQ represents her DIY ethos in full force: sound, design, branding, and distribution unified under a single vision. This approach was vividly realised at the EP’s launch party at Seoul’s CCCS Salon, where CONCERTA orchestrated the entire event herself, from live vinyl pressing to custom visuals and limited-edition releases, transforming the night into a living extension of the EP’s identity.
What makes Consumption particularly compelling is how seamlessly CONCERTA translates her branding expertise into artistic expression without sacrificing emotional depth. Tracks pulse with club-ready energy while maintaining a cinematic sense of space, offering both escape and connection. It’s music built for immersion, not just to be heard, but to be experienced.
With Consumption, CONCERTA closes out 2025 by announcing herself as a fully formed artist with global ambitions. As she sets her sights on Europe, international collaborations, and further expansions of the SYLQ universe, including a newly launched YouTube podcast channel, this debut EP feels less like a first step and more like the foundation of a carefully designed, self-directed future.
