Gold is the ambitious new EP from Damini Bhatla, packing contemporary R&B, folk, and Rock elements with South Indian classical tradition in a way that is seamless, unique, and entirely fluid. Conceived during a period of personal difficulty, the release traces femininity as an ongoing process that morphs, takes shape, and melts, in joy with imperfections.
Discussing the album, Damini Bhatla explains:
“Two years ago, it started with an idea of self-discovery, stemming from a difficult time in life and drawing inspiration from women artists and the women around me. I had a vivid imagination of liquid gold in my mind while ideating and saw parallels between GOLD and a woman’s journey. A woman is not just born. A woman is made. Melted down, mixed with other metals, hammered, shaped, polished, valued, and becomes precious. That’s why I named this album GOLD. The themes I covered are sisterhood, integrity, sensuality, heartbreak, inter-generational trauma, perspectives and power. Over time, it morphed into a real golden bangle which is a little wonky because it’s imperfect and that’s its beauty.”
Backed by Mass Appeal and selected for YouTube Foundry 2026, Bhatla’s newest chapter is growing momentum both at home and abroad, with international status rising with fans and industry alike. Bold, emotionally searching, and unapologetically South Indian, Gold presents self-discovery as both an act of excavation and creation.
