Greet The Chief has shared his new album, a self-titled project. Across thirteen tracks, audiences are treated to a restless alternative rock sound laced with the sharper edges of indie, never settling for too long before sharing a new idea.
From the rip-roaring style of the opener ‘Misery Loves Company’ to the wistful psych-tinged nostalgia of ‘Love Needs No Words’, the screaming guitar harmonics of ‘Repent At Leisure’ and the spoken word of ‘Cold Light of Day’, it’s a constantly interesting exploration of all rock has to offer. Some moments give you a sense of scale, stage and performance; others feel like thoughtful introspections on the state of the world. From mod to Britpop, it’s all present if you take the time to hear it.
At the centre of the project is Gavin Davies, formerly of The Roads, Future Roads, Jooba Jooba and Jericho Scream. With his diverse musical experience, he brings a directness and immediacy that suits the material. The rawness of Greet The Chief is part of its charm.
Something of a hometown hero amongst national tours, music press coverage and radio play, Greet The Chief has a new buzz off the back of the album, so watch this space.
