Simon Taylor is a singer-songwriter from Newcastle upon Tyne, who despite being diagnosed with the mental health condition schizoaffective disorder has been recording and releasing music regularly since 2011.
‘I Smell A Rat’ begins with vibrant, catchy and smooth melodies that compliment the unique vocal performance that Simon Taylor brings to life.
The song was written during the time Simon spent in a Majorcan psychiatric ward.
In Simon’s own words ‘I Smell A Rat’ is a visceral account of having just careened around the island beset by paranoia and also seemingly real-life threats that resulted in a terrifying ordeal.
Recording this song has therefore been an immensely cathartic experience and Simon hopes to use it to increase understanding of what those rejected and dubbed “insane” by society are capable of.
His back catalogue is stored in the British Library Sound Archive after they asked him to send it over to them in 2022.
