Harrogate singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jake Pattinson returns with his third single, “Part of Me”, a widescreen indie-rock track about the people, places and memories that can stay with us long after a relationship ends.
Blending shimmering synths, acoustic and electric guitars with a driving rhythm, the track draws from the expansive sound of The Killers, Bleachers and Sam Fender while retaining Pattinson’s own deeply personal storytelling.
Inspired by real moments following a breakup, “Part of Me” looks beyond missing an ex. Pattinson reflects on losing the people and places that came with a relationship, from familiar pubs and friendships to the version of yourself that existed within that world. As he puts it, sometimes those people and places become “ghosts that still turn up every now and then.”
That emotional honesty is at the heart of the track. Recorded largely in Pattinson’s spare bedroom, with drums recorded by his friend Nuno Oliveira, the single maintains an intimate independent spirit while reaching for a much bigger rock sound.
Even the artwork has a personal connection. The photograph was taken at a working men’s club near Doncaster by the former partner who inspired the song, making the visual itself another piece of the story.
With previous support from BBC Introducing Yorkshire & The Humber, The York Mix and Amazing Radio, “Part of Me” continues to establish Pattinson as an artist with a knack for turning everyday experiences into ambitious, heartfelt indie rock.
