Los Angeles singer-songwriter Jordan Levy refuses to play guessing games on latest single ‘Get To Your Heart’, an explosive pop-rock anthem fuelled by mixed signals, dating frustration and the decision to say exactly what you mean.
Angsty, dramatic and relentlessly driving, ‘Get To Your Heart’ channels the rush of early-2000s rock through a contemporary pop lens. Guitars, attitude and high-energy production provide the backdrop as Jordan confronts one of modern dating’s most exhausting habits: avoiding honest conversations about how you actually feel.
“‘Get To Your Heart’ addresses my frustration with modern dating head-on, by doing the opposite of what was done to me,” Jordan explains. “When I was met with mixed signals, I decided to respond instead with brutal honesty and lyrics that show that I will not tolerate being led on.”
Fittingly for a track with such forward momentum, ‘Get To Your Heart’ was born on the road. Jordan began writing the song during an eight-hour drive after listening through Paramore’s discography, which had become the soundtrack to the journey. Energised by what she’d heard and already frustrated by her own experiences with dating, the lyrics arrived almost immediately.
Instead of matching emotional uncertainty with more ambiguity, Jordan went in the opposite direction. The song became an opportunity to be deliberately, even uncomfortably, honest, turning everything she wished people would simply say out loud into a cathartic pop-rock release.
That combination of introspection and adrenaline sits at the heart of Jordan’s songwriting. Her lyrics frequently question relationships, emotions and her own experiences, but the music surrounding them is designed to remain immediate, energetic and fun. Even when the subject matter gets heavier, Jordan wants the listener to have something they can turn up loud.
A Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, Jordan first introduced that approach through debut EP City of Eyes and follow-up single ‘Turn My Car Around’, combining bright hooks and infectious melodies with emotionally direct songwriting. Her latest material pushes further into heavier themes and instrumentation while maintaining the pop instincts at the centre of her sound.
Drawing inspiration from the era when pop hooks and distorted guitars comfortably shared the same space, Jordan is on a mission to bring the spirit of early-2000s rock into the present. With touchstones including Paramore, Avril Lavigne and WILLOW, she pulls from pop and rock without allowing those influences to overpower her own perspective.
‘Get To Your Heart’ makes that identity particularly clear. It’s frustrated without becoming defeated, introspective without losing its sense of fun, and emotionally vulnerable without hiding behind subtlety.
For Jordan Levy, the antidote to mixed signals is simple: turn up the guitars and tell the truth.
