Mali releases new single ‘Spaceship,’ ahead of album release

Mali’s third studio album, ‘Where As I?’, will be released in November this year, following Savior Complex. Now bookended by both, we find Spaceship, Mali’s emotive ballad, with darkened production and storytelling that evoke a sense of longing, alongside Mali’s trademark pop melodies. Discussing a desire for connection and uncertainty, Spaceship is a metaphor for emotional hesitation.

Discussing the single, Mali says:

“Spaceship is a love song for anyone who’s ever felt like a visitor in someone else’s world, close enough to see them clearly, but never quite brave enough to land. A song about wanting to connect while carrying the quiet belief that you don’t belong.”

Collaborating with Keshav Dhar, both via Spaceship, Savior Complex, and the upcoming album, this collection of tracks was written in Mumbai after returning in 2022. Having supported the likes of Foo Fighters and played shows at SXSW, Music Matters Singapore, and Le Zénith Paris, Mali’s upcoming album is hotly anticipated; It’s clear to see why.
