Mila Sidhu brings Indian heritage and alt-pop together on ‘One Night’

London-born singer-songwriter Mila Sidhu enters a more assured phase with ‘One Night’, a sleek alt-pop and R&B track that explores desire, femininity and self-confidence. Driven by crisp production and seductive vocals, the single captures the energy of owning a room while remaining firmly in control of the situation.

Produced with Siloe, ‘One Night’ combines contemporary pop and alternative R&B with subtle Indian musical influences. Sidhu initially requested an Indian element within the production before later exploring traditional musical scales with an Indian singer while in India, bringing a deeper connection to her heritage into the track.

The release reflects Sidhu’s wider musical identity, shaped by a nomadic upbringing between different countries and cultures. Drawing from alternative R&B, jazz, hip-hop and darker pop, her songwriting is rooted in heightened emotion and personal experience, with influences ranging from Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill to Billie Eilish and Norah Jones.

On ‘One Night’, however, Sidhu moves away from vulnerability towards a more controlled and unapologetic perspective. The track presents desire through the lens of agency, pairing its late-night atmosphere with a clear sense of independence. It marks a confident step forward for an artist continuing to bring her varied influences together into a distinctive sound.
