Scizzorman Unleashes New Single “Mystical Yeast”

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if funk, psychedelia, glam rock and progressive grooves all collided inside one song, SCIZZORMAN’s new single “Mystical Yeast” has a pretty convincing answer. The Perth outfit have always embraced musical experimentation, and their latest release is another bold step towards the arrival of their upcoming concept album How To Get Your Life Right With What’s Left.

Clocking in at just under five minutes, the track never stands still. Thick basslines, tight drumming and swirling guitars constantly evolve while maintaining a groove that’s impossible to ignore. Fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ rhythmic interplay will recognise the energy, but SCIZZORMAN push those influences into far more psychedelic territory, giving the song its own distinct identity.

There’s also plenty happening beneath the surface lyrically. Terry J Vinci uses humour and surreal imagery to poke fun at first-world obsessions and gossip culture, transforming everyday frustrations into an offbeat fantasy that feels equally absurd and relatable. The result is a track that invites listeners to think while never forgetting to entertain.

The musicianship throughout is first class. Vinci and Cody Robson lock together effortlessly, while Stewart Herbertson injects the arrangement with expressive guitar lines, layered synthesisers and a standout solo that elevates the closing stretch. The independent production retains enough rawness to keep everything feeling authentic without sacrificing clarity.

“Mystical Yeast” is the sort of release that rewards adventurous listeners. It doesn’t chase trends or radio formulas; instead, it celebrates personality, musicianship and creative freedom. For a band twenty years into their journey, SCIZZORMAN sound like they’re only becoming more adventurous.
