Bristol four-piece Spin Class return with ‘Rip ‘N’ Dip’, a swaggering slice of groove-heavy rock that wastes little time making its presence felt. Built around fuzzed-out guitars, a locked-in rhythm section and soaring vocals, the track finds the band pushing their sound towards something bigger, heavier and decidedly more immediate.
Recorded live with Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, ‘Rip ‘N’ Dip’ is deliberately shaped around its dynamics. A restrained opening gradually tightens its grip before the guitars and drums pile on the pressure, eventually breaking into a full-blooded finale. There’s a familiar Queens of the Stone Age influence in the riffing, but Spin Class give it their own muscular, live-wire energy.
Having already released two EPs and earned a reputation for their formidable live shows, the band are clearly comfortable operating at full volume. ‘Rip ‘N’ Dip’ captures that instinct neatly: direct, physical and groove-led, with enough melodic lift to keep the track moving. It’s a confident step forward from a band increasingly finding their own space within modern heavy rock.
