Tim Hort is a Chicago-based singer/songwriter who performs with so much conviction. I’m hearing pure grit from Tim Hort and honestly it’s a wonderful thing to experience. Tim has an exciting new album out titled ‘No Dissociation’, which is also a double-vinyl release. With 22 original songs on the record, there is never a dull moment for the listening audience. With elements of alt-rock, folk-psychedelia, neo-punk and more, Tim Hort is a true artist with a real creative vision in place and ‘No Dissociation’ is his latest and maybe greatest creation to date!
Jumping right in, I first listen to “491” that is beautifully orchestrated as a peaceful, relaxing melody rushes over you. On “Body”, you will hear a rock-solid beat that rattles your bones and eardrums! “Body” has enticing vocals that draw you in to go along with a hypnotic atmosphere full of raw energy & stellar instrumentation. Emotional chords and a heartfelt tone hits you on “Both Alone Tonight” as Tim Hort delivers an impactful set. On “Burbank, CA”, one will witness storytelling at its finest and quite a musical production overall.
I have to say that the track “Chain and Sky (Date Killer)” speaks volumes vocally, lyrically & musically! Get ready for a very sincere song that cuts right through on “Chemistry” and this number appears to contain the perfect formula with a wonderful orchestration. Tim is making a big splash with “Death By Water” where the listener will want to ride these sweet sound waves from beginning to end. A haunting sound immediately pulls you in on “Dissolve” where your ears will be glued to the speakers. “Except for the Dead-On Girl” has appealing elements galore throughout the entire recording that will hook the listeners in. “From the End of the Earth” packs a powerful punch and one song that really sticks out and stands out in a crowd. Prepare for a very catchy rhythm on “Heartbreaks and Slamming Doors” where this track is pounding with real emotion & excitement. Tim offers up music that speaks to the heart & soul on “How Annandale Went Out” where this tune draws you in right from the start.
Welcome to “July Island” that has an extremely nice flow throughout and really sparks your interests. Tim supplies some tender moments on “Look For You” where there’s even a little mystery in the air. It’s time to go “Mainstreaming” where the slowed-down tempo syncs up perfectly with the vocals and overall performance. Tim Hort delivers a dynamite set on “Missing From the Township” where the guitar chords and vocals are all intriguing. There is so much depth on the title track “No Dissociation” where a strong presence by Tim Hort is quite evident. The audience receives high-quality, well-thought-out material on “Spies in the House” where Tim proves he is a top-notch singer/songwriter. There is so much going on musically on “The Killer on the Kennedy” where many twists & turns are taken. Tim captures a little magic here on “Tuesday” where there is some cool mojo going on! “With the Rhythm of a Catfight” is one smooth jam that sails along freely and effortlessly. “World in a Day” is equipped with a distinctly deep & serious tone that will get your ears ringing and your mind racing.
Tim Hort is one genuine artist who is poetic at times but always deeply personal. There is a humanizing aspect to Tim and his music and it’s refreshing to say the least. ‘No Dissociation’ will connect with many people and get crowds buzzing from coast to coast!
