Tom Jack Clark pushes into heavier territory with new single ‘Never Ends’

Newcastle singer songwriter Tom Jack Clark returns on October 22 with “Never Ends,” a dynamic indie rock track that pushes his sound into heavier territory through melodic guitar work, hard hitting lyrics and dense walls of sound.

Following debut single “Anymore,” which received support from BBC Introducing, “Never Ends” sees Clark building on the alternative influences behind his earlier material while experimenting with a more immediate style of writing and production. Britpop and alternative rock remain part of the foundation, but elements of shoegaze bring greater weight to the track, particularly through its layered guitars and expansive production.

Clark has steadily developed his sound through songwriting, performance and experimentation rather than arriving through a traditional route into the industry. Without musical connections or a family background in music, that independence has become an important part of how he approaches his work.

“Without industry connections or a musical family background, I want to stand testament to the power of authentic artistry, in a world that often overlooks the creative voices that matter most,” Clark explains.

That determination carries into “Never Ends.” Where “Anymore” introduced Clark through a combination of melodic songwriting and expressive guitar work, the new single places greater emphasis on impact. His vocal range is set against shifting guitar textures and a larger production style, allowing quieter melodic ideas to build into more forceful sections.

The release also reflects Clark’s interest in arrangement. Rather than relying solely on a conventional indie rock setup, his music draws from the scale and guitar textures of shoegaze alongside the direct songwriting associated with Britpop and alternative rock. “Never Ends” takes those influences further, using new production techniques and a heavier approach without abandoning the melodic qualities of his previous work.

Based in Newcastle, Clark has already begun establishing himself on stages across northern England. Previous appearances include NX Newcastle Room 2, The Wardrobe and Belgrave Music Hall, alongside a performance at Mouth of the Tyne Festival.

With “Never Ends,” Clark continues the progression started by his debut, moving towards a bigger and more confrontational sound while maintaining the guitar led songwriting at the centre of his work.

“Never Ends” will be released October 22.
