Ched William is a French Mauritian singer songwriter, multi instrumentalist and filmmaker based in Paris.
He makes indie music with folk and progressive influences and his work often explores identity, memory, belonging and the search for home.
The intro of ‘Towards Ether’ sets the scene in regards to the journey before Ched William blends bilingual lyrics with beautiful melodies and soulful sounds to create this magical track.
Ched performed to a 5,000 strong crowd at Svarg Festival in 2024 and also founded the independent label Light Chaser Production in 2025.
The video for ‘Towards Ether’ was filmed in Mauritius during a family trip centred around his grandfather’s Barkhi.
The film blends fiction with documentary footage of Ched’s own family.
His mother plays a woman who returns to Mauritius to receive an inheritance and gradually discovers that what she is looking for is less material than cultural, familial and spiritual.
