South London singer-songwriter Valentina launches her next chapter with her debut single ‘Our Head’, blending soulful R&B, jazz and classical influences with a story built around authenticity and human connection.
For Valentina, music has never been about chasing fame. It is about expression, emotion and the ability to make someone else feel understood.
Now, the South London singer-songwriter is introducing herself to a wider audience with ‘Our Head’, her debut single released via Cronx Records.
With influences ranging from Amy Winehouse, Adele and Raye to soul, R&B, jazz and classical music, Valentina brings an old-soul quality to contemporary songwriting. Rather than simply recreating the music that inspired her, she is interested in finding a place for those influences within her own generation.
Finding Her Voice
Valentina’s relationship with music became particularly important during her teenage years.
At around 16, she experienced bullying, isolation and the pressure to change herself in order to fit in. Writing songs became a way to process emotions she struggled to express, particularly experiences of heartbreak.
Over time, music helped her reconnect with herself.
That experience continues to shape her songwriting. For Valentina, music is about honesty and creating something in which another person can recognise their own experiences.
“I’ve experienced firsthand how a song can meet you at a point in your life when you feel completely lost and make you feel understood.”
It is this emphasis on genuine human connection that sits at the heart of her debut.
From South London to Italian Stages
Although Valentina is only now releasing her debut single, she has already developed considerable experience as a performer.
Her journey has included performances at COYA Mayfair, Bardo St James’s and Ronnie Scott’s, with the latter representing an especially important milestone as the first time she performed her own original music in front of an audience.
Her connection to Italy has also played a major role in her development.
With Italian and Filipino heritage, Valentina grew up surrounded by music, family and performance, with Italy becoming a second home from childhood. She has since performed to thousands of people in Italy, even addressing audiences in Italian despite it not being her first language.
An Unexpected Moment With Al Bano
One of the most memorable moments in Valentina’s journey came when she was due to open a show for Italian singer Al Bano.
Approximately two hours before the performance, she was invited to join him on stage to perform his iconic song Felicità.
With Italian not being her first language, Valentina had just two hours to learn the Italian sections, with some verses adapted into English.
She accepted the challenge — and Al Bano ultimately asked her to close the show with him.
It was another unexpected milestone in a career that has repeatedly taken Valentina beyond her comfort zone.
Backing Herself
Valentina’s route into music hasn’t been straightforward.
After being rejected by the BRIT School at 16, she questioned whether she was good enough to pursue music. However, she later secretly auditioned for BIMM with the help of her older sister and was accepted.
After initially working in estate agency, Valentina made the decision in February 2026 to leave her job and pursue music full-time.
“I was deciding to fully back myself and give music the time and commitment I’d always known it deserved.”
That decision now leads into the release of Our Head and a new chapter with Cronx Records.
What Comes Next?
For Valentina, Our Head is just the beginning.
A Christmas EP is currently in development, while 2027 will see her perform at a major festival in Tuscany in front of an expected audience of more than 20,000 people.
With connections spanning South London, Italy, Dubai, New York and Los Angeles, her story is already developing an international dimension.
Yet her ambition remains straightforward: to make music that means something.
In an increasingly digital music landscape, Valentina believes the most powerful part of a song remains something that cannot be manufactured — human connection.
With Our Head, she is beginning to build that connection one song at a time.
‘Our Head’ by Valentina is out now via Cronx Records.
