Peet Massé is the face of Montreal-based artist Hey Gorgeous, who has delivered retro-pop hit ‘Rocker on a Club Run’, alongside a playful video. The single and video serve as an appetiser to International Breakthroughs, Hey Gorgeous’ debut LP. ‘Rocker on a Club Run’ and the upcoming album follow three years of single releases, with his recent offering proving to be his best work yet.
Pulsing synths counter catchy melody lines, with clean and vocoder vocals causing chorus chaos. Complete with synth and guitar solos, this is a blast from the mid-noughties with a jovial modern spirit.
Disccusing the video, Peet explains:
“The video follows a fictional version of me, Peet Massé, over the course of a restless 24-hour binge—a reflective odyssey through Montreal’s bars, nightclubs, and art galleries. Caught between two loves I perceive as culturally opposed—rock and house—I drift through their respective crowds in search of a fragile point of convergence. Can I reconcile these two spaces within myself and finally find peace? Could art exist above the social and serve as the ultimate point of convergence? That is serious business.”
The upcoming album will be twinned with a host of live shows, and the record itself touches on themes of embracing new experiences after leaving home, both spiritually, mentally, and geographically.
