‘Lately (The Club Mix)’ sees James Gittins lead us to the dance floor with heavy bass beats and addictive synth hooks

Writer, producer and performer James Gittins returns to centre stage with the release of ‘Lately (The Club Mix).’

The track marks a significant moment in James’ journey, as he steps back into the spotlight as lead vocalist and front man for the first time since the early 2020’s whilst he’s been focussing on managing the entire creative and business process with his releases —building a fully independent, end‑to‑end music operation and sharpening his production craft with a roster of talented artists and producer collaborators.

Lately marks the start of another new chapter, with James stepping back into the spotlight as the headline performer while continuing to fine tune his skills as a writer, composer, producer, and director.

A high‑energy club cut built for global dancefloors ‘Lately (The Club Mix)’ delivers an electrifying blend of high‑octane builds, a driving bassline hook, and retro‑inspired synths that nod to 80s house classics such as ‘Smalltown Boy’ by Bronski Beat.

James explains that he “wrote these remixes with hooky basses – big builds – retro synths and chopped up vocals – to really get everyone bouncing on the dancefloors and reworked one of my vocals to create the tribal tarzan style intro which is the signal to get everyone moving!

While my full vocal version of Lately won’t land until early summer I can share that it’s a deep funk number that I think will resonate with everyone. Lately reflects those moments when someone special in your life changes into a person you barely recognise—whether that’s a friend, a partner, a family member, or even a role model.

The happy ending is that moment they find their way back to who they were.”
