Misha and the Kings Show a Different Side on New Single “Ecstasy” from Album “Too Hot”

Misha and the Kings have built their reputation on exactly the kind of live show you don’t forget: theatrical, loud, chaotic in the best way. So “Ecstasy,” the standout ballad from their debut album Too Hot, arrives as something of a curveball.

The Aberystwyth four-piece strip things right back here. The track opens on piano and guitar, before gradually pulling itself into a full cinematic swell, landing somewhere between Florence and the Machine and early Wolf Alice. It’s patient, and that pays off.

Lyrically it’s about the pull of temptation and the choice to step back from it, and Misha sells that tension without overselling it. The restraint is what makes the emotional payoff land.

The band have had a big year. A crowdfunded trip to San Marino for Eurovision selection, BBC & ITV coverage, and a packed acoustic show at a church in Aberystwyth that reportedly filled every pew. Too Hot followed in June, recorded almost entirely in drummer Ivan Anchant’s home studio.

For a band known for spectacle, “Ecstasy” proves there’s real depth underneath it all.
